Day 6: His eye is on the sparrow!

We began our morning gathering as a team to pray, albeit a little more tired, and then headed to breakfast. Jeff and I had the opportunity to visit with Ryan and Teresa, whose main role is Member care and MK  (missionary kids/3rd culture kids) care within BMW. They really desire to help prepare missionary families for the field. They help provide resources for the overall health of the missionaries ministries as well as their own families. It was really sweet to hear Teresa share her heart to connect with the MKs and help them navigate the blessings, difficulties and the transitions of missionary life. It was encouraging to hear how intentional their roles are to offer as much support as they can to the BMW missionary families.

Our students are doing a great job serving in VBS. Because our group of missionary kids is so small, we really can devote more intentional time to getting to know them and spending time with them. They led worship, helped teach the memory verses, helped with the craft, helped lead game time, and of course, Ellie, Luke, and Ethan are our resident skit performers! Jeff reviewed the 7 C's of history that we have learned so far and then taught about Christ & the Cross. It was a great morning serving. Most meal times include sitting with many of our VBS kids because they enjoy talking to us. :)

In our teen time, Dave led a conversation about discerning God's voice from our own thoughts (which was an anonymous question from one of the teens) and then led a discussion on having the courage to stand alone. He referenced Matt 10:29-31, "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs on your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Later the women and teen girls were all invited to a tea, which to our surprise ended up having the theme: His eye is on the sparrow! It was a sweet time as a former MK shared the same truth that the very God who created all things into existence, has his eyes on us, which we often don't contemplate regularly, but He sees us and knows us. We are not alone in suffering, trials, or difficulties. He sees it all. This isn't a past action or future promise, it's continually happening...His eye IS on the sparrow, so how much more is His eye on us, the ones created in His image and made to worship and enjoy Him. We then sat around the table and shared times when God used a circumstance or trial to show us that He was there and that His eye was indeed on us. It was an encouraging time!

After the evening session, the team took the younger kids on a hike to a playground and soccer field. They had a blast together. Candace and I stayed back to make some cards to encourage the teens and VBS parents with. :)

There have been many intentional conversations and it's been so encouraging to watch our teens interact with the VBS kids as well as all the teens. Tomorrow will be another full day starting with VBS. We then get to take the teens on an outing. Thank you for your prayers, we greatly appreciate it. Enjoy the pics!

Enjoyed a real thunderstorm..not like our Cali storms
A little bit later the sun came out :)
